With the weather warming up, it’s that time to do some maintenance projects to keep our neighborhood a desirable place to live. Homeowners are responsible for keeping all structures on their lot in good condition – homes, garages, porches, railings, fences, patios, etc.
Some prior planning can help avoid common maintenance violations received by homeowners, such as:
- Pressure washing (house, garage, fences, porches, etc.)
- Repairing or replacing mailbox and post
- Exterior painting (shutters, doors, foundation, etc.)
- Pruning landscape elements (overgrown grass, shrubs, weeds, and trees overhanging sidewalks, etc.)
- Repairing hardscapes
- Making repairs to structures such as fences, siding, windows, etc.
- Arranging for lawn maintenance services if you don’t plan to do it yourself routinely
- Gutter and vent cleaning
If you receive a violation letter, the simplest action is to complete the maintenance item and send a picture to the email included in the letter showing it’s been resolved within the timeframe outlined in the letter. If you need more time to address the maintenance item due to extenuating circumstances, contact the management company to request the Board of Directors consider approving an extension.
