3 Ways You Keep Our Community Pet-Friendly

Meadows at Morris Farm prides itself on being an animal-friendly community. We enjoy all the animals in our community, both wild and domestic. While we don’t have much say in how our wild animal friends interact with our neighborhood, we can ensure our domestic fur friends are good neighbors. 

Here are the 3 ways you can ensure you and your pet are good neighbors and keep our community pet friendly. 

    1. Pick Up Pet Waste: it’s unsightly and unsanitary and should be immediately cleaned up and disposed of properly
      1. Take along pet waste baggies with you. If you’ve forgotten or run out, only take what you need so others won’t find the bag station empty;
      2. Remind those who walk pets on your behalf to pick up pet waste;

    2. Leash Your Dog: Prince William County law requires dogs to be on a leash at all times when on public property. This is to protect the health and safety of your pet and those they may come in contact with along your walks. Other good reasons to leash your pet include:

      1. Preventing your dog from trespassing on a neighbor’s property during your walk.
      2. Keeping your dog from jumping on people you encounter. Also, ensuring you can introduce your dog properly.
      3. Protecting your pet from traffic or unrestrained animals and wildlife.
      4. Remind contractors and visitors to secure fence gates so pets stay contained.
    3. Know the Laws: 
      1. Is your dog licensed? Prince William County requires all dogs to have a license.
      2. Do you know what the county considers nuisance behavior? They provide a self-assessment to help you determine whether your dog is a good neighbor or a noise nuisance.
